Canada Self-Employed Immigration
Immigration under the Self-Employed category is provided to individuals who are self-employed in certain industries by both, the Federal Government and the Government of the province of Quebec.
- Federal Self-Employed Persons Program In order to qualify for business immigration to Canada under the Self-Employed Persons Program, an applicant must demonstrate that he or she has a relevant agricultural, artistic, or athletic experience that will allow the applicant to be successfully self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to their field.
- Quebec Self-Employed Category The Quebec Self-Employed category of immigration is designed to allow qualified individuals the opportunity to obtain permanent residence in Canada, provided that they can effectively establish themselves in the Province of Quebec by practising a trade or profession.
The Self-Employed Persons Program is for individuals with self-employed experience as farmers, athletes (at an international level), or artisans.
To qualify the Self-Employed Persons Program, an applicant must demonstrate that he or she has a relevant agricultural, artistic, or athletic experience that will allow the applicant to be successfully self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to their field.
Relevant experience consists of at least two years of experience either as self-employed or participating at a world-class level in art, culture, recreation, or sports activities designated by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (See below List).
Applicants who intend to purchase a farm must have at least two years of farm management experience.
Applicants are also assessed based on their education, experience, age, English/French language ability, and adaptability.

The Quebec Self-Employed category was designed to allow qualified individuals the opportunity to obtain a Canada Permanent Resident Visa, provided that they establish themselves in the Province of Quebec by practising a trade or profession for their own account.
Note: The Quebec Self-Employed category is currently open for new applications. A total of up to 50 applications will be accepted during the current application cycle, which will end when 50 applications have been received. All applications must be sent by regular mail or by courier service.
